FOR A BRIGHTER VENEZUELA PARTNERS WITH KEEP A CHILD ALIVE
(FOUNDED BY ALICIA KEYS) TO HELP FEED 1,200 STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES FOR A YEAR
PARTNERSHIP
We are proud to announce our new partnership with Keep a Child Alive ("KCA") and the ALSI Foundation, with the purpose to feed an entire Fe y Alegria School in Cumana, Venezuela. With over 1,200 families at the Madre Alberta Giménez School, the KCA backed campaign will feed over 7,200 people, including students, their parents, as well as school staff.
HUMANITARIAN CRISIS
Venezuela continues to be in a deep humanitarian crisis. With over 65% of people living in poverty, Venezuela is now considered the poorest country in South America. The collapse of the formal economy and the failed government have forced more than 5 million people to flee the country. The desperate situation has been made worse by the COVID-19 pandemic, which is having a major impact on people, communities, and education systems. The income loss for many has increased the number of people facing hunger.
KCA + ALSI
KCA, with the support of ALSI on the ground in Caracas, is working with For a Brighter Venezuela to help a Fe y Alegria school in one of the most impoverished states in the country. The funds raised go in their entirety to for emergency supply baskets, which include nutritious food and hygiene products
SINCE 2017
We have worked locally through Fe Y Alegria. Founded in 1955 by Father Vélaz in a barrio of Caracas, Venezuela, Fe y Alegría has transformed into one of the largest popular education movements in the world. “Fe y Alegría begins where the asphalt ends” is the inspiration for the network of schools that reaches over 1.5 million people in 21 countries. “We believe in education as a powerful tool for social change and are committed to promoting quality, inclusive programs for people living in marginalized and impoverished communities.”
