‘MAESTROS AL TELEFONO’ Campaign

The COVID-19 crisis has severely impacted low-income Venezuelan families, the majority of whom don’t have access to the internet or a computer. Teachers at Fe y Alegria Schools have
been working through cell phones to contact students and help them advance their learning while at home. The situation is dire however: only 58% of teachers have a working cell phone and over 57% of students have not been reached throughout this crisis and. Mobile Education has proved to work effectively in countries where internet access is limited and while we implement it in our Fe y Alegria schools, it is imperative to make contact with all students to ensure education continuity., as these are the most at risk children and youth. Thus the “Maestros al Teléfono” program was launched.

The goal is to help raise funds to provide 176 schools with 1,000 phones to reach 102,982 students in need. With much effort Fe y Alegria has been able to source cell phones at $99 each from a local provider.
